How Sibila Works: Shuffling, Readings and Privacy

The deck and the shuffle

Every reading uses a complete 78-card tarot deck. Before the fan of cards appears on your screen, the deck is shuffled on our server using a cryptographic random number generator. That means the order is set by a strong source of randomness, not by a simple pattern and not by anything you do on your device.

Because the shuffle happens first, the cards are already in place when the fan appears. Nothing about the order changes based on your question or your choices.

You choose positions, not cards

When the fan is shown, you pick positions in it. You can't see the faces of the cards, so you're choosing a spot, not a particular card. The card sitting in that spot is the one that was placed there by the shuffle.

Many people find this part of the ritual meaningful: taking a breath, focusing on the question and choosing where to tap.

It also means there's no right or wrong spot to pick. You don't need to hunt for a lucky position or worry that you chose badly. Take your time, follow whatever feels natural and let the reading begin from there.

Reversed cards

About one in four cards comes up reversed, meaning upside down. Reversals add nuance to a reading. If you'd like to learn how to interpret them, see our guide to reversed cards.

Interpretations and the optional AI reading

Every card has a classic interpretation written by our team. This is the core of each reading, and it's always there for you.

You can also choose an optional personalized reading written by AI, using Claude by Anthropic. It's clearly labeled as AI-written so you always know which part came from our team and which part was generated. Using it is your choice.

A good way to approach any reading is to look at each card first, notice your own reaction, and only then read the interpretation. The words are there to support your reflection, not to replace it. If something in a reading doesn't fit your situation, it's fine to set it aside.

You can get one free reading per day without creating an account. Beyond that, Sibila uses credits.

Privacy and what readings are for

Your readings are private.

Sibila is meant for reflection, not prediction. A reading can help you think through a question, notice your feelings and consider your options, but it doesn't guarantee what will happen. For questions involving health, legal matters, serious money decisions or your safety, please talk to a qualified professional.

In practice, that means the most helpful questions are ones about you: what you feel, what you need and what you might try next. Tarot can't read another person's mind, and it can't promise an outcome. It can give you a calm moment and a fresh angle on something you care about.
